Moving Blankets

As useful as your cargo trailer might be, it’s got a potential problem. It’s a rigid, hard, and in some places sharp container that you might have to move some pretty fragile or sensitive items in. No matter how carefully you drive, potholes, speed bumps, and hard turns are a possibility, and any one of those can send said items bumping into corners or other cargo. 

That’s why you need a moving blanket or two. Also called packing blankets or moving pads, these are thick sheets of cloth that help add a soft outer layer to otherwise fragile items. That can prevent dents, scratches, and other damage on the drive, protecting both the item the blankets are on and the items they might bump up against. 

E-Track Ratchet Straps

Moving blankets can help minimize damage from shifting cargo, but they aren’t going to prevent shifting to begin with. If you want to lower the risk of damage to the cargo even further, you’re going to need to secure it in place. 

Your best bet on that front is an E-Track ratchet strap. These are heavy-duty and tough straps that you can secure to the walls and sometimes ceiling of an enclosed cargo space. They’re called ratchet straps because there’s a handle that you can ratchet to tighten the straps, helping ensure your cargo stays put without any rigid and potentially-damaging lines around it. 

Cargo Nets

Sometimes, even a ratchet strap or two aren’t enough to give you the peace-of-mind you need. Having just a couple of lines to secure bulky cargo or a large amount of small containers just won’t cut it. Here, a cargo net is a necessity. They’re pretty much exactly what they sound like—a net of straps that you can secure to the corners of your cargo space, creating a slightly flexible wall that will hold everything where you put it while allowing some give.
